Night Flight Concepts Offers ORM Training

Night Flight Concepts and The Squadron have formed a strategic alliance to provide Operational Risk Management (ORM) training for organizations conducting Night Vision Goggle (NVG) operations.

The ORM training program consists of academics and practical exercises geared for operators to easily apply risk management principles into daily routine. The program is always tailored to operator-specific mission tasks and not just a generic approach found in most other risk management training programs.

The 1- or 2-day course facilitates individual and crew understanding of how to look at what they do every day and quantify it in a way that is useful during all phases of the flight, from preflight to debrief.

Pilots, TFOs, flight medics, other crewmembers, mechanics, and administrators learn together what their individual and entire organization’s appetite for risk actually is; they learn how to manage it, and how to actually manage change.

The big take away from the new ORM Training Course is operators make their own Flight Risk Assessment Tool (FRAT) and in turn learn the true value of briefing and debriefing their activities, so they buy in to using ORM from the start.

“A critical part of establishing safe and effective NVG operations is the integration of appropriate risk management strategies and tools,” stated Adam Aldous, President and CEO of Night Flight Concepts. “The real-world operational experience combined with the vast knowledge in Aviation Safety procedures makes The Squadron the right choice to deliver ORM training as part of the Comprehensive NVG Solutions our clients have come to expect.”

“This is a important alliance for the aviation industry,” stated Dan Deutermann, Managing Director of The Squadron, “the ORM training course delivers an operational layer of flight safety to new or existing operators delving into the nighttime environment to deliver their services. It goes to show that Night Flight Concepts is truly a step ahead in helping their customers integrate NVG operations in a safe and effective manner. NVGs open up a new level of capability, particularly for rotary wing operators working in remote areas; however, with this gain comes exposure to new hazards and new levels of risk – and we’re here to help operators learn to manage this risk in a practical way.
