On Tuesday, the second day of EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wis., HAI President Matt Zuccaro led a forum on career opportunities in the helicopter industry. There are jobs available for relatively low-time commercial pilots (800-1000 flight hours) looking to build time and experience, he told the audience.

Operators are advertising for positions now – something that was unheard of three to five years ago. There are opportunities, Zuccaro said. For any aviation job, new commercial pilots and maintenance technicians will need to build time and experience, but there are operators who could add aircraft and clients immediately, if they could only find people with the right kind of experience to fly and fix the aircraft.
