Bell workers strike, and then return to work

Bell’s Fort Worth facility suffered a strike by members of United Auto Workers Local 218 on Friday, but they return to work again today – Monday 9th. Those involved – over 2,500 machinists, packers, forklift operators etc – resorted to strike action after months of negotiations with Bell over healthcare and pension benefit changes the company had proposed.

The union had sent this letter on Thursday to Bell advising them of their intention to strike at midnight.

A terse statement from UAW 218 to workers just says “Please return to work at your regularly scheduled time on Monday, September 9, 2013. If you have any questions about returning to work, please call the union hall. Thank you!

The situation is not resolved yet.
