Northwest MedStar, the region’s premier critical care transport program, has added a new EC135 helicopter to its fleet. The new EC135 will provide greater access to communities in eastern Washington, northern Idaho, western Montana and northeastern Oregon. The helicopter flies into Providence St. Mary Hospital and Walla Walla General Hospital Adventist Health, Walla Walla, WA, on September 12.

“The EC135 has the latest safety enhancements, patient safety and critical-care capabilities,” said Roger Casey, MSN, RN, CEN, Northwest MedStar’s new Tri-Cities Base Chief. Northwest MedStar purchased the Eurocopter EC135 helicopter that includes the next generation of avionics and enhanced situational awareness for pilots. It can be spotted by its updated paint design. Northwest MedStar now has five helicopters serving the region in addition to its fixed wing aircraft and ground ambulances.

“The purchase of an additional helicopter shows our commitment to the region and ongoing investment in the expert staff, operations and equipment,” said Nancy Vorhees, chief operating officer for Inland Northwest Health Services (INHS), the parent organization of Northwest MedStar.
