Oboronprom plans $122M investment in Mil helicopter plant

The Mil Helicopter Plant in Moscow is planning a significant expansion, although the numbers supplied by Rostec do not compute…. The announcment on Friday stated that Oboronprom may buy 8 million shares at a price of 504 roubles per share, equating to 4,032,000,000 roubles in total – this is $122.2M at today’s exchange rate.

The statement then went on to say that The Mil helicopter plant share capital would be increased by 200 million roubles (not 4 billion!), and that at the end of September 2013 the share capital at that point was 104.3 million roubles. Of this, Russian Helicopters holds an 80.7% stake.

HeliHub.com considers the most likely explanation for this numerical anomaly is that the share issue will be a different class of shares (eg. “Preference shares”) and the voting (“Ordinary” shares?) would remain the same.

Either way, the Mil Helicopter Plant is preparing for a massive cash injection
