Dr. Gordon A Jiroux, President and CEO of Universal Helicopters, was on the Dodge City Community College (DCCC) campus November 14, 2013, for the first ever Universal Helicopters Technical Education Scholarship Reception. A student from each of the twenty-two technical education programs at Dodge City Community College was presented with a $1,000 scholarship by Dr. Jiroux. Each program faculty member selected a deserving student for the scholarship award.

During the lively reception, the students, technical staff and faculty were entertained by Dr. Jiroux’s quips and anecdotes about personal experiences related to each technical program.

Danny Gillum, Vice President of Innovations & Workforce Development of Dodge City Community College said, “All students take on an enormous financial commitment to earn an education and gain a skill. Gordon recognizes this need and has generously responded.”

Due to Dr. Jiroux’s generous gift, Dodge City Community will be able to award twenty-two, $1,000 technical scholarships each year.

Dr. Don Woodburn, President of Dodge City Community College said, “This new UHI Technical Education Scholarship is a fine example of the importance of our industry partners and Gordon Jiroux is one of the best.”

UHI and DCCC have been partners for more than six years and have moved to the top of the helicopter pilot training industry with no unemployed graduates.

Dr. Jiroux commented, “UHI and DCCC are not about grinding students through an expensive flight training program and then telling them, ‘it was nice to know you.’ We are about training students for a high-demand, high-paying, exciting career and then putting them to work with our aviation partners.” Dr. Jiroux has been a leader in the helicopter pilot training industry for more than thirty years.
