Airbus Helicopters have shipped one of their EC175 development aircraft to Canada, ready for cold weather trials. The helicopter was shipped by Volga-Dnepr Airlines in one of their Antonov AN124 freighters (RA-82074, should anyone be asking!) to Edmonton last Friday evening. It then moved north 900 odd miles to Yellowknife, arriving Sunday 26th – captured there in this fantastic photo by Jason Pineau.
Airbus Helicopters have confirmed to HeliHub.com that the aircraft is in Yellowknife for cold weather tests, and with a weather forecast of -23C they have certainly found a good location. THey were unable to tell us how long the aircraft will be there – it depends on the test plan and, indeed, the weather.
