Daniele Romiti, AgustaWestland’s CEO said “I invite everyone visiting Heli Expo to come and see our Family of new generation helicopters, a range of helicopters covering the 4 to 8 tonne weight categories that is unmatched in performance, capability and technology. The market success of the AW139 and the initial market response to the AW169 and AW189 has been outstanding, confirming our belief in the Family concept and the market leading capabilities of these helicopters.”
He added “We will also be demonstrating some of the new training systems and customer support services that are now available to keep our customers’ aircraft flying and helping to further improve safety. I hope that you can take time to be briefed on these advances and the advantages they can deliver to your business.”
Additionally AgustaWestland will, for the very first time, be performing prearranged customer demonstration flights with the AW609 TiltRotor and also with the AW189. The AW609 TiltRotor, the world’s first commercial tiltrotor is being developed by AgustaWestland at its facilities in Arlington, TX, and Cascina Costa, Italy, with civil certification scheduled for 2017. Able to fly 750 nm and at speeds twice those of a helicopter at up to 25,000 ft, the AW609 TiltRotor is set to deliver a whole new capability in the vertical lift market.
On display in a 16-seat offshore transportation configuration will be the latest member of the AW Family, the AW189. The third production aircraft to be built, this helicopter will enter service later this year with Era Group. The first showing of a production AW189 at Heli Expo follows the award of EASA certification on 7th February 2014, which was achieved less than three years after the unveiling of the type at Paris Air Show in June 2011. Initial deliveries of this all new 8-tonne class helicopter will commence in the coming weeks.
The outright market leader in the 6-tonne class, the AW139, will be present in search and rescue configuration highlighting the versatility of this class leading helicopter. With a 56% market share in the last five years, the market leading AW139 has achieved sales of over 750 aircraft for a wide range of roles including offshore transport, SAR, VIP & corporate transport, fire fighting and emergency medical services. The aircraft on show highlights the versatility of this platform for a wide range of roles.

Displayed in an eight-seat offshore transport configuration the AW169 can also be used for corporate transport, air ambulance, law enforcement and a range of utility roles. Now in the final stages of development, the AW169 is scheduled to achieve civil certification later this year.
PZL-Swidnik, an AgustaWestland company, will be showing for the first time at Heli Expo the SW-4 a light single multi-purpose helicopter designed to carry up to five people, including pilot.
