Revue Thommen, AG (THOMMEN) announced today that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation for the design and supply of high-performance Helicopter Searchlight Systems (HSL1600 series) for use in Sikorsky’s S-92® helicopters. As a result of this agreement, THOMMEN will offer the latest airborne searchlight systems innovation in a single LRU, high intensity, and high resolution ruggedized searchlight system with detection ranges exceeding 1600 meters.

S-92 helicopters perform search and rescue (SAR) missions, head of state missions, as well as a variety of transportation missions for offshore oil and gas crews, utility and airline passengers. The aircraft incorporates numerous safety features, including a flaw-tolerant design. It was certified to harmonized Federal Aviation Administration, European Aviation Safety Agency and Transport Canada Part 29 requirements, as amended through Amendment 29-47, and remains the only aircraft in its class that is certified to this rigorous airworthiness standard without exception or waiver. Since entering service in September 2004, the S-92 fleet has grown to more than 200 aircraft. The global fleet has logged more than 600,000 flight hours to date.
