Med-Trans Corp., a leading provider of air medical transport services, has taken delivery of a new EC135 helicopter, the 25th of the popular twin-engine aircraft model that it has purchased from Airbus Helicopters Inc. and placed into service since 2007.

“We have been very pleased with the EC135 as we continue to expand our fleet as our business grows,” said Rob Hamilton, COO of Med-Trans. “We selected the EC135 for the aircraft’s dependability and resourcefulness. This particular aircraft provides an adaptable platform that meets the needs of our ever-expanding customer base.”

Headquartered near Dallas, Med-Trans is a leading provider of air ambulance programs throughout the U.S., offering an array of customized air medical program designs including hybrid, community-based, and traditional hospital-based models. The company’s extensive fleet rapidly delivers teams of highly trained professionals to provide patients with the best possible health outcome.

The new EC135 was delivered Monday. It is the 14th of a 16-aircraft Med-Trans order placed in 2012 and is the first to be equipped with a factory installed Airbus Inlet Barrier Filter (IBF). The IBF will provide significant protection from compressor erosion in harsh environments.

“Airbus Helicopters is proud to continue the support of Med-Trans in their life saving missions with the safest, most reliable and cost effective light twin helicopters,” said Treg Manning, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Airbus Helicopters Inc. “We are grateful to Med-Trans for the continued trust and confidence they have shown in the EC135 and in our company.”

The EC135’s high endurance, extended range and outstanding maneuverability enable it to perform a wide range of mission requirements. It can carry a larger payload over longer distances than any helicopter in its class. With its shrouded Fenestron tail rotor, the EC135 is extremely quiet, making it popular with operators that regularly fly over densely populated areas.

There are 207 EC135s providing air medical transport services in the U.S. Since the EC135 series was introduced in 1996, the EC135 fleet has logged about 2.9 million flight hours worldwide.
