The Japanese National Police Agency has placed an order for one AW139 with local AgustaWestland distributor Mitsui Aerospace. The helicopter is allocated to the Kagoshima Prefectural Police and will replace the Bell 412 they currently fly.

The helicopter will be equippe4d with rescue hoist, search light, auxiliary tank, and other police specific items. The avionics suite will include both a dedicated improved ground proximity warning system (EGPWS), and Enhanced Vision System (EVS).

This will be the ninth AW139 for law enforcement use in Japan.
