Donaldson Aerospace & Defense, a division of Donaldson Company, Inc. (NYSE: DCI), is making its debut at the Eurosatory defense and security trade show this week.  Donaldson will display air and liquid filtration systems that have protected military ground vehicles and their crews in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for more than 30 years, as well as advanced technology filtration systems that protect aircraft engines and other critical systems, including Inlet Barrier Filters and Universal Filter Modules for helicopters. Donaldson Aerospace & Defense provides filtration solutions for the fuel, hydraulic, lubrication, transmission, and auxiliary power unit systems on military ground vehicles, as well as for their crew compartment air, electronic systems cooling, and engine air. The vehicles that these filtration solutions support include main battle tanks such as the Nexter Leclerc, Merkava, and BAE Systems Challenger; armored vehicles such as the Alvis CVR(T), BAE Systems Bulldog and Warrior, Patria Armored Modular Vehicle, and the Streit Group Spartan; and other vehicles, such as the BAE Systems Palladin M109 self-propelled artillery and its Hercules recovery vehicle. These and other Donaldson-supported ground vehicles are used by military forces in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and the U.S.

Donaldson’s main fuel filter for the Leclerc tank is among the systems on display at Eurosatory. Others filtration systems on display include its Pulse Jet Air Cleaner PJAC™ Ultra® used in ground vehicles that include Daimler Trucks North America’s M915 A5 military tractor. Field tested and proven in harsh, high-dust military environments, PJAC Ultra uses controlled pulses of compressed air to automatically clean the intake filter, offering up to 10 times the life of conventional air filters. This active cleaning process helps keep contaminants away from engines and helps keep vehicles operational in the most severe environments while reducing life-cycle costs by significantly decreasing maintenance costs and the need for replacement filters.

Designed with Donaldson Ultra-Web® nanofiber filtration technology, the PJAC Ultra air cleaner provides the highest level of efficiency – 99.997+% – and is scalable to meet customer space requirements. Ultra-Web, the industry’s most efficient filtration material, prevents clogging by capturing tiny particles on the filter’s surface for efficient continued air flow and easy maintenance and cleaning.

Also on display are the Vee-Pac™ barrier filter and Strata™ Tube pre-cleaner technology, combined in an application that greatly improves engine air filtration protection and the operational effectiveness of the Patria Armored Modular Vehicle (AMV), while also reducing its life-cycle cost requirements. The Patria AMV is used by Finnish, Polish and Swedish defense forces, and it has been fielded in International Security Assistance Force operations since 2007.

Like the PJAC Ultra, the Vee-Pac barrier filter uses Donaldson’s Ultra-Web nanofiber filtration media. The Strata Tube pre-cleaner technology provides superior elimination of airborne particles before they enter the AMV’s engine intake filter.
