Russian aviation industry sources are reporting that a significant number of people intending to travel to the UK this week for the Farnborough Air Show have been denied visas by the UK Government. One report gives a figure of 167 visas granted to a Russian trade delegation numbering 347, implying that at least 180 have not been looked on favourably for a visa – with the numbers said to come from Yuri Slusar, Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, who organise the delegation.
HeliHub.com contacted the Home Office – the UK Government department responsible for visas – and they declined to comment telling us that they “do not comment on individual visa applications and the only guidance we can give you is that we consider all applications on their individual merits in line with the immigration rules”.
