Donaldson Aerospace & Defense has delivered its 700th Inlet Barrier Filter (IBF) for the Bell Helicopter 407. Wysong Enterprises took delivery of the advanced filtration system, and will install it in the popular, single-engine helicopter for one of its customers.
“We thank Wysong for sharing this milestone with us,” said Business Development Director Robert Stenberg at Donaldson, a subsidiary of Donaldson Company, Inc. (NYSE: DCI). “Our IBF has demonstrated its ability to enhance the performance and reliability of the Bell 407 in both routine and critical missions. Wysong’s expertise and dedication have contributed greatly to establishing that impressive record.”
Blountville, Tenn.-based Wysong has delivered more than 20 IBF-equipped 407s to its customers, including air medical and airborne law enforcement operators. “Wysong is committed to ensuring the full satisfaction of our customers with the aircraft we deliver, and Donaldson IBFs help them get the most from their aircraft in the field,” said Wysong Vice President Rodney Wysong. “We’re proud to join with Donaldson in delivering that enhanced capability.”
The IBF is a drop-in system with minimal installation impact. Features include streamlined conformal filter assemblies mounted into the existing engine cowl, an alternate inlet air bypass system, and a filter design that allows for quick removal and service.
Donaldson has been delivering Bell 407 IBFs since late 2003, when it obtained Supplemental Type Certificate approval from the FAA for system use on that aircraft. The company also has won approval for such installations from Transport Canada, the European Aviation Safety Agency, and their counterparts in Argentina, Brazil, and China.
Providing the most comprehensive line of IBF solutions, Donaldson Aerospace & Defense is the industry leader in the design, development and manufacture of high-performance engine IBF systems for commercial and military propulsion systems.
