Telangana state Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has revealed plans to buy a new helicopter. The State Government of Telangana would plan to use the aircraft for the official use of the Chief Minister and other VVIPs.

Telangana state Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma has been entrusted with the responsibility of sourcing the new aircraft.

Telangana has a population of around 35 million and an area covering 44,000 square miles.  The state capital of Hyderabad is the fourth largest city in India, and growing at an appreciable rate thanks to the tech industry boom of recent years.  Recent estimates put the city’s population at over 8 million, which compares to an official figure of 6.8M just three years ago, and only 3.6M in 2001.
