Urgent DHL express packages and documents can now soar over Chicago traffic, thanks to a unique service launched by DHL Express, in partnership with Helimotion.
Financial and legal firms in Chicago can now receive international materials via Helimotion Helicopters. Flying an urgent package over the morning commute can save hours – bypassing Chicago’s notorious traffic gridlock.
International shipments destined for Chicago enter the U.S. for processing at the DHL Americas Hub in Cincinnati before connecting to a flight bound for the Chicago O’Hare International Airport. Shipments are then separated, loaded into the DHL helicopter operated by Helimotion and transported to the new Vertiport Chicago in the Illinois Medical District. From there, a DHL courier meets the helicopter and provides the final mile delivery.
Chuck Surack, President and CEO of Indiana Helicopters said. “We are excited to partner with DHL to provide this much-needed service to the city of Chicago. Using our fast and reliable helicopters and the new downtown Vertiport facility will help ensure that DHL customers receive the absolute fastest shipping options possible.”
The new helicopter service can transport up to 650 pounds of letters and packages.
