AgustaWestland is bringing one of the AW609 development aircraft from Italy to the UK this weekend. The aircraft has scheduled appearances at both the Yeovilton Air Day on Saturday, and AW’s own invitation-only Families Day at the Yeovil plant on Sunday. The type has only appeared in the UK before at the Farnborough Air Show, under its previous BA609 nomenclature.
A flying demonstration is expected on each day. The AW609 is centre stage on Sunday when AgustaWestland celebrate 100 years with the “Westland Centenary Family Day” with their employees. A wide range of helicopters (and the fixed wing that Westland made pre-WW2) will take to the skies, creating a pageant to remember.
