EASA approves ASU Night Vision STCs for Bell 206 and 407

United States, Boise, Idaho based Aviation Specialties Unlimited Inc., (ASU) announced that the company has obtained EASA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval on the Bell 206 series and 407 helicopters to modify existing aircraft for night vision capability.

“This is the second EASA STC we have obtained this year,” said ASU Executive Director of Business Development Kip McDermott.“One of the foundational strengths of ASU has been, and continues to be, our ability to work with domestic and foreign agencies to certify aircraft.Globally, our customers operate numerous rotary and fixed wing models and diversifying our STC portfolio enables us to provide turn key solutions world wide.  Customers can obtain equipment, training and certified NVIS modifications from one provider in ASU.”

In the United States ASU has modified 48 Bell 206s, and 119 Bell 407s.  Internationally ASU has modified four 206s.  ASU also owns and operates a Bell 206.  At HELI-EXPO in Orlando this year ASU announced they gained EASA approval for the EC135.

“If operators have any questions about NVIS modification, or to find out if an STC is available for their aircraft, I would encourage them to call our team.  We have a long history of helping organizations around the world start night vision based flight programs and we can aid them in expanding their operationsto include night vision flights,”said McDermott.
