Rawlco Radio Ltd. has announced a gift of $250,000 to the Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARS) in Saskatchewan. The donation reinforces the company’s ongoing support of the service, helping to ensure that STARS can continue to maintain its vital service of providing time, hope and life-saving transport to critically ill and injured patients. This donation will be directed to support STARS’ bases in Regina and Saskatoon.
Rawlco Radio Ltd. (Rawlco) was one of the first donors to step forward when STARS was establishing its Saskatchewan operation in 2012. At that time Rawlco donated $100,000 to help launch the service.
“STARS provides a valuable service in critical times throughout Saskatchewan,” said Gordon Rawlinson, president and CEO of Rawlco. “We have been proud to have worked with STARS in Saskatchewan from the very beginning.
“Rawlco has been a long-standing supporter of STARS and has demonstrated, in many ways, an ongoing commitment to supporting healthy and safe communities,” said Andrea Robertson, STARS’ president and CEO. “Their support has and will continue to play a significant role in our ability to provide critical care to patients across Saskatchewan. We are very grateful for their ongoing commitment to our cause.”
In 1985, STARS began its first operation in Alberta and has grown to six bases across Western Canada, with 11 helicopters serving the area. STARS’ Regina base opened in April 2012, followed by their Saskatoon operation in October. Since starting the service in Saskatchewan, the two bases have flown more than 2,200 missions.
