Faroe Islands operator Atlantic Airways is today taking delivery of the second of the pair of AgustaWestland AW139s they ordered. The aircraft will be used to perform Search and Rescue missions and scheduled passenger transportation within the Faroe Islands. The helicopters replace two Bell 412s.
OY-HIL – serial number 31722 – was ferried this morning through the UK via Southend Airport east of London, and then to Wick Airport at the most northerly point on the British mainland. It will then have a slightly shorter leg from Wick to Vagar in the Faroe Islands.
This follows the delivery of their first new AW139 OY-HIH in December 2015. Both aircraft have the new 7000kg gross weight
