Piedmont Propulsion Systems, LLC (PPS), a world leader in propeller maintenance and overhaul for the regional airline and military markets, announced today a major milestone in its advance into the military helicopter MRO market.

PPS has received approval from the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering command for maintenance and overhaul activities on the UH-60 Black Hawk Main Rotor Hub.  The UH-60 twin-engine helicopter is the U.S. Army’s primary medium lift utility transport and air assault aircraft.

PPS has a rich history of providing aircraft propeller repair and overhaul services for the United States Government, including existing contracts and subcontracts supporting the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, Department of Transportation, Department of Commerce and Department of Justice.

Sammy Oakley, General Manager of PPS said “We’ve been working on extending our capability into the helicopter market for a number of years and built our current facility to accommodate both dynamic components and rotor blades for the helicopter market.”

Paul Bolton, Chief Engineer at PPS who led the efforts to receive the Army source approval (SAR) authorizing PPS to maintain components for the Black Hawk, added “This is a logical extension of our current engineering and maintenance capabilities.  We look forward to entering this exciting market and to continue providing the Department of Defense with extraordinary service and value.”
