The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has created a local economy growing industry with the establishment of the first Periodic Depot Maintenance centre, as reported by The Daily Trust.

This centre eliminates the expense of sending helicopters abroad for servicing and maintenance and instead uses the brains and capabilities of the local engineers from the Aeronautical Engineering and Technical Services Limited (AETSL). The AETSL is a unit of the Nigerian Air Force Holdings Company. They aim to increase local employment, eliminate capital flight and build the capabilities of the local engineers.
