Mike Allen, president of air medical services at Air Methods said, “We’re very pleased to have Dr. Stuhlmiller join our leadership team. We provide emergency air medical care to more than 100,000 patients every year. As America’s largest air medical provider, there was a growing need for an in-house chief medical officer to harness the expertise of our valued physicians, and to elevate our focus on quality clinical care.”

Dr. Stuhlmiller joined Air Methods in July 2005 as medical director for LifeNet of New York. In 2013, he joined the Company’s physician advisory board. In his new role, Dr. Stuhlmiller is responsible for leading Air Methods’ team of 70 medical directors across the United States, and will report to the president of domestic air medical services. He will represent Air Methods internally and externally on matters of medical care delivery, research, quality improvement and patient safety. In addition, Dr. Stuhlmiller will develop and adopt best practices to advance the national air medical health care industry.

“Air Methods is a leader in the air medical community,” added Dr. Stuhlmiller. “Air medical transport approaches intensive care in the air with two highly-trained personnel and equipment treating each and every patient, and intuitively, specially-trained transport medicine personnel will improve patient outcomes. I’m pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to the air medical transport community’s clinical advancements through increased quality, benchmarking, and outcomes research.”

Dr. Stuhlmiller brings more than 15 years of experience as an emergency medicine specialist and an emergency medical services (EMS) medicine physician, and will continue to deliver care as a part-time emergency physician at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway in New Jersey.
