Two hundred people attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony of Wayne Memorial Hospital’s new helipad, on Fair Avenue. The Times Tribune reported that the helipad cost up to $124 000. A large amount of that cost was paid through the fundraising of Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

The new helipad helps bring Wayne Memorial to an IV trauma centre status, and helps with the critical timing of getting care to emergency cases. The hospital covers areas such as Pike, Eastern New York and Lackawanna.
