John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital is still a year away from its grand opening, but there are still sections of the plan that have to be completed. Kaleida Health is working towards a helipad on the roof of the new hospital.

They already have two helipads, one ontop of Buffalo General Medical Centre and one on Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. And although Buffalo General is across the street, the patients are still transported via a ground ambulance. A helipad with a direct elevator to the emergency rooms will save valuable time for the patients. WBFO reports that the helipad project is still waiting on city approval, before it can receive a federal approval.
