New Zealand Prime Minister, Bill English has allocated $503 million towards the Auckland Police. Part of the money will be used for their helicopter named “Eagle.”

Eagle is currently available at pre-scheduled times, currently at 1800 budgeted flying hours a year. The new increase in funds will see that number go up to 3300, as the helicopter will be available 24 hours a day. Police hope that the new hours will reduce the “3am spike.” Criminals have picked up the pre-scheduled times and know that the Eagle won’t be available during that time, reports NZ Herald.
