The city of Toledo is going forward with their plans to sell their Robinson R44 helicopter that was purchased in 2001. The Toledo City Council is currently reviewing legislation, reports Toledo Blade, which gives Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson authority to go forward with the sale. The original cost was $504,000 and has been in use for SAR missions, emergency missions and night patrols for the past 16 years. Every 2,200 flight hours or every 12 years, the helicopter is required to have a mandatory factory overhaul. City Council has commented that the helicopter may not be worth the $300,000 overhaul.
