US Defence Officials have revealed that they are planning to send up to 159 refurbished UH-60A Black Hawks to Afghanistan. The Afghan Air Force will use these helicopters to replace their aging fleet of Mi-17s. As reported by Military Times, the arrival of the Black Hawks will provide security forces the leverage they need to end the “stalemate” against terrorist groups. The first delivery is expected to arrive within 21 months.
