A temporary helipad at Great Oakley Airfield, to be used to ferry offshore wind farm workers, has been given approval for 24-months despite much controversy. The 24-month period is to give the Tendring Council’s planning committee more time to decide whether to allow Galloper Offshore Wind Ltd a permanent base at the Harwich International Port. They will require over 20 more take-offs than the allowed three per day and residents have written in to voice their concerns. Many are worried about the impact the helipad will have on the surrounding wildlife and the noise. The temporary helipad will be up and running in November, reports Harwich and Manningtree Standard.
