The Fort St. John Hospital Helipad Steering Committee has announced they are no longer going to build a helipad at Fort St. John Hospital. Their reports found that that they cannot afford the construction at the moment and that there is not a big enough demand or need for it medically. Moira Green, a representative of the City of Fort St. John, said that they plan to install a monitoring system to the amount of medevacs there are which they will send annually to the Fort St. John Hospital, Northern Health and the regional district. For now, it is safer for the helicopters to land at a controlled airport, reports Alaska Highway News. After such data has been collected, they may review the need for a helipad.
