Irish Coast Guard reduces role of SAR helicopters

The Department of Health has announced that SAR pilots who work 24-hour duties will not be expected to perform any inter-hospital patient transfers. The Irish Coast Guard has had to withdraw crews from various medical missions’ due to this decision. The Irish Aviation Authority has said that an Air Corps fixed-wing aircraft will be used to fill in the gaps that the Coast Guard will leave.
