ADAC Luftfahrt Technik GmbH (ALT) based in the German city of Bonn have won a contract to supply EC135 helicopters to train German military pilots.  The contract was awarded to ALT on 19th December after a competitive tender, and targets a total of 6,500 flying hours over a three year period.  This tender included not only the provision of four helicopters at the Bundeswehr training location at Bückeburg, but also the complete maintenance, service and on-site technical and logistical support.

To fulfill this mission, ALT will lease five brand-new EC135 helicopters from two commercial aviation lessors. Four of them are made available daily in Bückeburg, the first two helicopters from March 2018 with the others following the month after.  A fifth EC135 will provide backup in the event of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in the operational fleet. ALT are expecting to add additional personnel and spare parts to guarantee technical availability of more than 99%.
