James Cadoret has sent in a request to Sikorsky for a sign language interpreter so that he can have access to the same benefits and privileges as other employees. This includes joining in meetings, training and conversing with supervisors. Sikorsky opposed that in order to provide a interpreter, they would have to hire one full time. They said this was unreasonable as it would only be to accommodate Cadoret. Judge Janet Arterton ruled that it was not unreasonable, as here were no “extraordinary circumstances” in the record so as to render provision of an interpreter unreasonable,” reports Ernie the EEO Nerd.
