[electronic translation] Holding “Helicopters of Russia” (part of Rostekh State Corporation) initiated works to recognize (validate) a certificate of the type of the newest Mi-171A2 helicopter in India. At present, negotiations with the country’s aviation authorities (DGCA) on the procedure for conducting certification work are under way. The Indian side was sent a proposal to organize a meeting with representatives of DGCA, Rosaviation and Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant JSC to determine the order of certification works.

“Given the high potential of interaction with India in the field of civil aviation, we consider it extremely important to further develop and strengthen bilateral relations.” From this point of view, it is profoundly symbolic that the first foreign customer of the newest Mi-171A2 was an Indian company, and it is in this country that we first began the process of validating the Russian certificate of the helicopter, “- said Andrei Boginsky, the general director of the holding company” Russian Helicopters “.

The need to recognize a certificate of the type of the Mi-171A2 helicopter is caused by the high interest in these helicopters from potential customers from the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. Currently holding “Russian Helicopters” is working on a number of projects for the supply of Mi-171A2 helicopters to buyers from the APR.

The Mi-171A2 is the result of a profound modernization of Mi-8/17/171 helicopters. In its design, more than 80 changes are made with respect to the basic model. The helicopter is equipped with the newest VK-2500PС-03 engines, the main difference from the engine of the VK-2500 engines is the availability of a modern electronic automatic control system such as FADEC and anti-surge protection. In addition, thanks to design solutions, the VK-2500PS-03 engines provide more reliable operation of helicopter equipment in areas with hot climates and high altitude conditions. The use of a digital flight control and navigation system with a display of data enabled the crew to be reduced to two people. Introduction of equipment for diagnostics and monitoring of the state of the main systems in the on-board electronic equipment increased the reliability of the helicopter and made it possible to reduce the time required for its maintenance.

The Mi-171A2 in August 2017 was certified by Rosaviatsiya in the category “A”, which provides for the fulfillment of the strictest safety requirements for civil helicopters.
