The Romanian Army is looking to purchase 70-80 military helicopters in the next 15 years. In the running for the contract are Lockheed, Bell and Airbus. Bell and Airbus both offer to build helicopters within Brasov for the army. Lockheed however is offering to renovate the Romanian company Romaero Bucharest into a new maintenance and refurbishment centre for their proposed Black Hawk helicopters. Should they choose Lockheed, the centre will be the only in Europe. Bell has proposed their Viper attack helicopter and Airbus has offered its H215M helicopter, reports Romania Insider.
