[Electronic Translation] Specialists of ODK-Klimov JSC took part in the Airshow China 2018 aviation exhibition. In China, they presented the newest turboshaft engine VK-2500PS-03 for the modern Mi-171A2 helicopter. The exhibition Airshow China 2018 was held from 6 to 11 November in Zhuhaq

The VK-2500PS-03 engine is a modification of the VK-2500 engine with improved performance characteristics. It uses the most advanced Russian digital electronic control and monitoring system with feedback type FADEC. Implemented anti-surge protection, eliminating the possibility of engine failure due to powerful air flow, reduced atmospheric pressure in a hot high-altitude climate, strong side winds during takeoff, etc. The scope of work on certification of VK-2500PS-03 was completed in 2016. Since 2017, engines of this type have been mass-produced by the developer company ODK-Klimov JSC in St. Petersburg.

Crucial for operators VK-2500PS is the ability to control the engine resource depending on the specific operating conditions instead of the previously existing average approach to resource assessment. This allows you to avoid unnecessary costs for resource work, if the engine was operated sparingly, and, conversely, will make it possible to obtain early service if the operating conditions were close to extreme. The technical solutions applied by the designers of “ODK-Klimov” in VK-2500PS allow to accurately determine the real state of the engine, which in turn excludes the influence of the human factor.

Earlier in 2018, thanks to VK-2500PS-03, ODK-Klimov JSC received a prize and diploma from the Aircraft Builder of the Year 2017 competition in the nomination For Success in the Development of Aviation Equipment and Components (Design Bureau of the Year).

In addition to the VK-2500PS-03 engine, at the UEC stand at the Airshow China 2018, another RD-93 engine developed and manufactured by ODK-Klimov JSC was introduced, which are equipped with the FC-1 Chinese fighters. Also here you could see the civilian engine of the new generation PD-14, designed for the MS-21 airliner, the AL-41F-1C engine for the Su-35 fighter.

At the exhibition Airshow China 2018, about 770 exhibitors from 43 countries and regions of the world presented their achievements in the aerospace industry.
