The Canadian Department of National Defence is considering using the private sector to fill the gap in their SAR operations when their CH-149 Cormorants undergo a mid-life overhaul. President of the Guysborough County Inshore Fishermen’s Association and the Nova Scotia Fisheries Sector Council; Eugene O’Leary, has stated that he has concerns over using a private company for SAR work. He commented that the private sector focuses on dollars where they should be focusing on saving lives, reports The Chronicle Herald.
