Armenian Helicopters LLC plans to import another passenger helicopter, the acting Minister of Economic Development and Investments Tigran Khachatryan told a Cabinet session. The government decided today to exempt the company from payment of customs duties on the import of equipment.

He said this company has already invested more than 1.5 billion drams (about $3 million) in the business and will bring in another passenger helicopter worth 271.4 million drams (about $559,400), which will be used to operate flights across the country. He said also the company has already created 13 jobs and plans to create another 3 with an average salary of 600,000 drams (about $1,200).

Earlier, Health Minister Arsen Torosyan said the ministry was negotiating acquisition of an ambulance helicopter to evacuate patients not only from remote and hard-to-reach regions, but also patients needing urgent surgeries. He said the service will be launched in 2019.

The Armenian Helicopters company founded in Armenia in June 2018 was granted license by the Main Directorate of Civil Aviation for operation of flights. The company said it planned to invest $10 million in the next three years and create new jobs.

On April 19, 2018, the company was awarded tax rebates for the import of necessary equipment.
