LifeFlight of Maine has created a new program to help them improve service to remote areas. The Remote Access Project has over 120 remote access landing zones, these are on private land, with permission. At each site there is a large yellow marker showing a LifeFlight helicopters, as well as grid coordinates, location name and instructions on how to get help if it is needed. Each zone is on an online database which is accessible by a 911 Public Safety answering point. The use of this project will help save valuable time in a SAR operation, reports WABI5.
