[electronic translation] State Corporation Rostec will offer partners from South Korea to renew the fleet of Ka-32 multirole helicopters. The modernization program for this family of helicopters will be presented at the International Aerospace and Defense Technology Exhibition in Seoul at the stand of the official dealer of the Russian Helicopters holding company RH Focus Corp. The manufacturer suggests updating avionics, engines and fire extinguishing systems in vehicles that have been in operation in South Korea since the 1990s.
The Ka-32 modernization program includes its equipping with a “glass” cabin, more powerful VK-2500PS-02 engines and a new fire extinguishing system – all of these units will be presented at the Seoul International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition (Seoul ADEX), which will be held from 15 to The 20th of October. The upgraded model of the helicopter received the index Ka-32A11M.
“This exhibition is especially important for the Rostec aviation cluster, since we are discovering a new format for cooperation – for the first time, the development of Russian Helicopters is being shown at the stand of our official dealer, RH Focus Corp. We are connected with this company by the history of mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of after-sales service, therefore, the modernized Ka-32 helicopter was not chosen for our joint exposition – the fleet of these machines in Korea is quite large, and they proved to be excellent when performing cargo, search and rescue and fire fighting “, – said the General Director of the holding” Helicopters of Russia “Andrei Boginsky.
“Our forests bloom and turn green thanks to the efforts of the Forest Guard of the Republic of Korea and its Russian-made helicopters. However, most of these machines are quite old, they have been in operation since the mid-1990s. Modernization using the latest units and technologies that we present at Seoul ADEX-2019 will significantly improve the flight performance of previously delivered helicopters, which from an economic point of view seems to be a more profitable alternative to buying new cars. At ADEX-2019, we will provide our customers with the opportunity to appreciate the excellent combination of the latest avionics and the Ka-32 coaxial design, which makes this helicopter flawless, ”said RH Focus Corp, CEO. Kim So Yoon
More than 50 Ka-32 helicopters are operated in South Korea; they perform a wide range of tasks for a number of government departments of the country: from fighting fires to search and rescue operations and patrolling the sea. In addition, they are used by the republic’s commercial services as “flying cranes” for construction and installation works.
Technical solutions in the avionics of the Ka-32A11M helicopter have already been tested on the Ansat, Mi-38 and Ka-62 civil multi-purpose helicopters. The new domestic-made water tank SP-32 differs from its foreign counterparts in a more favorable price, holds 4 tons of water, has digital control and improved ergonomics during water intake and discharge. In addition, it can be operated at freezing temperatures.
In addition to the Ka-32A11M, the holding presents at the Seoul ADEX-2019 the medium multi-role helicopter Mi-171A2, as well as light multi-purpose helicopters Ka-226T and Ansat. The combined exposition of Russian Helicopters and Helicopter Service Company (VSK) in Seoul was organized by the South Korean company RH Focus Corp, which is the official dealer of the holding.
The delegation of Russian Helicopters at the Seoul ADEX exhibition is headed by Ivan Serov, Managing Director of VSK. Under his leadership, the holding’s specialists will discuss maintenance and repair of Ka-32 and Mi-8/17 machines.
The all-weather civil helicopter of the coaxial Ka-32 rotor system was developed by the Kamov design bureau, which is part of the Russian Helicopters holding. Serial production of Ka-32 helicopters has been launched at the Kumertau Aviation Production Enterprise. To date, over 240 machines have been built, which are operated in more than 30 countries. The coaxial design of the helicopter has a number of serious advantages, providing better controllability and maneuverability of the helicopter, especially during fire fighting. The composition of the target equipment of the serial Ka-32A11BC helicopter has more than 100 options.
The helicopter service company provides logistical support for the operation of helicopter equipment manufactured by Russian Helicopters enterprises and since 2006 it is the only authorized supplier of new aviation technical equipment produced by the holding enterprises and sold for after-sales services of Russian helicopter equipment.
