[electronic translation] On March 26, 2021, Russia completed the transfer to Thailand of three Mi-17V-5 multipurpose helicopters, which were purchased as part of Thailand’s state program to provide assistance to the population during natural disasters. The helicopter handover ceremony took place at the U-Tapao airbase with the participation of the Russian Ambassador to Thailand E.Yu. Tomikhin. Thus, the fleet of helicopters of this type in Thailand has increased to ten units.

Since 2011, Mi-17V-5 helicopters have been assisting the Thai population in natural disasters, delivering food to flooded areas during floods, dumping tons of water when extinguishing forest fires, and rescuing people in emergencies. In 2018, Mi-17V-5 took part in rescuing children from a flooded cave in Chiang Rai province in northern Thailand.
