Airbus Helicopters have recently taken one of their H160 demonstrator aircraft on a demo tour of Morocco, from 28th June to 17th July. The company advised HeliHub.com that they presented the H160 to a range of helicopter operators based in Africa and the Middle East covering different sets of missions like Oil and Gas, EMS or aerial work. The demo flights were organised in partnership with Heliconia, who have a number of operational bases in Western Africa, including Morocco and Senegal
While the manufacturer declined to name the organisations which received demo flights, or the cities (and countries?) it visited, it seems very likely that the Royal Moroccan Gendarmerie was high on the list. The Gendarmerie is a long-term Airbus customer, and has purchased SE313 Alouette II, SA341 Gazelle, AS550 Fennec, AS355 Twin Squirrel, EC135, EC145, AS365 Dauphin, SA330 Puma and EC225 over the years.
The demonstrator aircraft routed through Barcelona, where this image was captured by Simon Iglesias. Note the “Morocco Demo Flight 2021” stickers.
