EP Systems is powering Archer Aviation’s Maker eVTOL demonstrator vehicle with its VersaPower battery system.

EP Systems’ legacy VersaPower battery family has laid the foundation for its next generation EPiC technology. Its compact, high-performance design has allowed EP Systems to take lessons learned and optimize its features into the brand new EPiC product line for FAA-certified electric flight. EP Systems CTO, Michael Armstrong, PhD., had the following to say about the collaboration:

“VersaPower has been a game changer in driving advanced air mobility development forward. Its integration with Archer, Aurora, Embraer, and other flight vehicle systems has been instrumental in informing EP Systems’ transition to the next generation of safe, reliable, and cost-effective battery solutions.”

The Maker eVTOL was recently unveiled at Archer’s debut event in Los Angeles. The lightweight battery system contributes to the vehicle’s 60-mile range, which provides efficient, fast, and safe urban air mobility to the public. The Maker demonstrator will lay the groundwork for future development efforts in the advanced air mobility space.

This battery system adds to EP Systems’ robust portfolio of over 10 system integrations enabling electric flight. EP Systems is currently working towards the flight certification of its EPiC battery propulsion system with an estimated completion in 2022.
