MRO Insider announced last week that the platform has expanded to include FBO providers – allowing operators, schedulers, and dispatchers to request fuel pricing, ground transportation, and hangar rental in addition to detailing and disinfecting services.

President Andy Nixon explained, “MRO Insider continues to be a platform for maintenance requests; we have continually worked to expand the platform to meet the needs of our customers based on their feedback. Last year, we focused on our AOG feature that allows users to ‘ping’ out to multiple providers for quotes for maintenance, parts, or detailing. This year, we chose to expand this technology to include requests for fuel pricing, hangar rental, and ground transportation.” He also added “this tool will be beneficial to the FBO network by allowing the FBO to quote based on aircraft make/model, length of stay, etc.”.

With this feature, FBOs will be able to customize their quote based on fuel cost, quantity, and additional requested services – creating a customized “package deal” for each individual request, rather than the current practice of posting flat rate fuel pricing on multiple websites and listings. The platform has the capability for users subscribed to a fuel program to submit that information with their request.

Subscribers will be notified of an operator requesting fuel or service within a 100 nm radius of the requested airport. This allows providers at nearby airports to quote the request, possibly offering a better value than an FBO at a major airport. Nixon stated, “The goal is to increase transparency and efficiency in business aviation wherever possible. When it comes to managing costs, there are definitely times that an operator may choose to land at a nearby airport when considering an extra 10-minute car ride could equal thousands of dollars of fuel savings.”

The FBO feature launched on the MRO Insider dashboard on September 1. FBOs nationwide have subscribed to join the service and have begun to learn the technology and quoting process through the app.
