The Russian Helicopters holding of the Rostec State Corporation delivered the first Mi-8MTV-1 helicopters for Avialesokhrana. The machines were manufactured at the Kazan Helicopter Plant, where a solemn ceremony of their transfer to the customer took place.

The event was attended by Nikolay Krivosheev, head of Avialesokhrana, Vladislav Savelyev, deputy general director of the Russian Helicopters holding, and Vladimir Ginsburg, managing director of the Kazan helicopter plant. Alexander Kozlov, Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia, also joined the ceremony via video conference.

“For all of us, the creation of the Sever forest fire center, where the helicopters will be based, is an event of paramount importance. It is from the “North” that our paratroopers will be sent to extinguish forest fires in hard-to-reach and remote areas. Sever’s helicopters will fly in the skies over the Irkutsk Region, Yakutia, Transbaikalia, Buryatia, Krasnoyarsk Territory, and over the Baikal natural territory. The first two helicopters are ready to go to the place of deployment, the plant will build four more helicopters and hand them over to us at the end of next year. I hope that everything will be on time, because every vehicle counts to fight fire, ”commented Alexander Kozlov, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Russia.

The contract with FBU Avialesokhrana, concluded this year, provides for the delivery by the end of 2022 of six Mi-8MTV-1 helicopters to equip the interregional northern forest fire center, created in the Krasnoyarsk Territory on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation. The government of the Russian Federation has allocated 5 billion rubles for staffing the center with personnel, aviation and ground equipment.

“Today we are handing over two machines from the first in the modern history of a complex supply of helicopters for Avialesoohrana. These machines will significantly expand the capabilities of the federal agency to extinguish fires and respond to emergencies. Together with the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources, we continue to discuss plans for the further expansion of the helicopter fleet used for aviation security and forest protection in our country, “said Nikolai Kolesov, General Director of the Russian Helicopters holding.

Each of the helicopters handed over to the customer is capable of transporting up to 22 paratroopers-firefighters and is equipped with a wide range of equipment for effective use in fighting fires: an external sling with a carrying capacity of up to 4 tons, a spillway device for delivering and dumping a fire-extinguishing mixture, equipment for transporting equipment and equipment, launching devices and an onboard winch for the landing of mobile groups.

“Specialists of the Federal Aviation Protection Agency were looking forward to these multipurpose helicopters. Thanks to the basing of these helicopters in the Siberian Federal District, we will be able to promptly deliver the forces and equipment of the airborne fire service to forest fires, primarily in specially protected natural areas of federal significance in the Baikal natural territory, “said Nikolai Krivosheev, head of Avialesokhrana.

Multipurpose helicopters of the Mi-8MTV-1 family have unique flight technical and operational characteristics. They can be used in almost any climatic conditions, in a wide temperature range (from -50 to +50 degrees Celsius). The design and equipment of the Mi-8MTV-1 make it possible to operate autonomously based flights on unequipped sites.
