Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has selected Helicopter Institute Inc. (HI) as the sole provider of the Helicopter Flight Training Program to students at the university’s Prescott, Arizona, campus. Excited for the opportunity, HI looks forward to utilizing its decades of rotorcraft training knowledge to enhance and optimize the Embry-Riddle student experience.

“Our goal has always remained consistent: improving helicopter safety, one pilot at a time,” said Randy Rowles, president of HI. “This partnership with Embry-Riddle facilitates incredible, safety-focused flight training to a larger pilot pool. Training this new generation of pilots with a program centered on critical decision-making and confidence in their capabilities as aviators will be the driving force needed to accomplish that goal.”

The Embry-Riddle and HI Rotorcraft Flight Training Program will offer many benefits to prospective students to include a cost effective, expeditious method of obtaining pilot certificates; student-industry experience programs; and internship opportunities. Additionally, flight students attending Embry-Riddle are on a path to earn their Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Science degree. Embry-Riddle’s Prescott Campus location also offers prospective pilots a unique perspective of flight with high-density altitude conditions, as well as a climate that is conducive to around-the-clock flight training.

The Embry-Riddle and HI Rotorcraft Flight Training Program fleet will consist of Night Vision Goggle-modified Robinson R22 and R44 helicopters equipped with state-of-the-art glass cockpit instrumentation. In addition to modern aircraft, the program will utilize Helicopter Institute’s vast array of flight simulation devices to augment the training experience.

“There is an old adage at Embry-Riddle that ‘The Sky’s the Limit,’ and when two great organizations come together, this holds true,” said Timothy B. Holt, dean of Embry-Riddle’s Prescott Campus College of Aviation. “We are extremely fortunate to be partnering with Helicopter Institute, and sharing that sky. The future for our students is unlimited!”
