When the Firehawk Helicopters needed to upgrade their fleet of aircraft to replace existing antiquated audio systems to work with new requirements from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), they found a very capable solution in the all-digital PS Engineering, Inc PAC45 audio management system.
One of the first PAC45 audio systems was installed in the Firehawk A-Star Airbus AS350. , The utility, ease of use and ultimate flexibility of the PAC45 Audio Management System has proven a valuable enhancement the last several months of mission operation.
In this PAC45 installation, three NVG compliant control heads are employed. Individual crew controllers and a rear cabin operator’s position that supports two additional transmit seats.
Besides the aviation radios, the PAC45 ties together additional FM radios & integrated internal Bluetooth. All the radio conversations get sorted out through the digital audio controller feature, MultiTalker® 3D True Dimensional Audio Sound. Additionally, all control heads allow for tailored configuration for each transmit seat in the aircraft, including intercom isolation during busy missions.
The PAC45 system also includes “RXI” which is a visual indication that a selected radio is receiving an audio signal, even if the control head radio volume is turned down – just another way that the PAC45 is taking care of business and adding state of the art safety enhancements without any additional hardware.
Firehawk Helicopter discovered that the PS Engineering digital PAC45 was a better value when comparing other audio systems in the special mission market, and available “off-the-shelf” with no long lead times. Firehawk was able to accomplish the installation in a timely manner and within the required budget.
