Leading two fast-growing aviation companies in Puerto Rico was a natural move for Carlos Benítez. The helicopter captain has been a passionate aviator and dedicated professional for nearly two decades.

The owner of Benítez Aviation and Puerto Rico HeliTours is also one of the first pilots to represent HAI as an ambassador in a new association initiative, the HAI Ambassador Program.
Currently attending HAI HELI-EXPO 2022, Benítez is experiencing one of the show’s best benefits: the opportunity to meet and network with other industry members and reconnect with old colleagues and mentors.
This week, Benítez met with one such mentor, HAI Chairman Randy Rowles, who was Benítez’s designated pilot examiner in 2004 and gave him his private license.
“I was happy to see Randy because he reminds me of where I come from,” says Benítez. “That keeps me grounded, so I never lose my vision and I keep my rotors turning.”
