Thirteen aviation students receive awards supporting HAI’s mission to educate next generation of vertical flight professionals.

HAI has awarded 13 scholarships for 2022, the association announced Apr. 14. The scholarships, which are open to students around the world, support HAI’s mission to educate the next generation of rotorcraft professionals. HAI makes available annually up to 13 scholarships, which are supported by donations and other fundraising efforts.

“We understand that aviation education is an investment in the future of our industry,” says James Viola, president and CEO of HAI. “These scholarship recipients already made a commitment to the rotorcraft industry, and HAI is proud to support their efforts to improve their knowledge and skill sets. This is the perfect time to pursue a career in aviation, and these students are part of the vanguard that will lead us into advanced air mobility.”

This year’s awards comprise 6 scholarships for students to attend OEM helicopter maintenance programs, 2 for pilots working toward earning their commercial helicopter rating, 1 for safety professionals, 2 for maintenance students working toward earning their maintenance certificate, and 2 honoring women in aviation.

Interest in the 2022 program was significant, with a very strong field of qualified applicants, says Greg Brown, HAI’s director of education and training services, who notes that HAI appreciates the opportunity to help further the careers of tomorrow’s vertical flight professionals. “It is an excellent time now to be a part of the vertical lift industry, with opportunities for pilots, maintenance technicians, and other professionals,” Brown says.
