This year, long-time Bell customer, Life Flight Network sought out Bell’s Engineering team to design and install kit configuration that would extend access to their patients including side loading capabilities with its Bell 407.

The few – including Bell Piney Flat’s Daniel Crockett, senior business development sales manager spearheaded the project with the help of a dedicated team.

Daniel also sought the expertise of Wes Matson, a 9-year veteran of Bell and engineering specialist. Wes and his team went to work, brainstorming solutions and designing prototypes allowing for convenient transport of patients on stretchers in and out of the cabin while also developing a cost-effective solution for Life Flight Network.

Life Flight Network gratefully selected the Passenger Door Extender Kit – that essentially relocated the helicopter’s floor bracket, creating a longer door strut to overextend the forward door from 90 degrees to roughly 120 degrees.

“It makes you feel good knowing you have an impact. What you are doing is making a difference,” said Wes proudly. “Bell’s Piney Flatts facility is a fast-paced team of customer service engineers who specialize in customer configurations. We are thrilled to be helping everyone, including supporting the critical mission of Helicopter Air Ambulances.”

“The new door strut kit has been tremendously beneficial for us,” said Brian. “The kit was easily installed, and the increased opening allows for much easier patient loading. This has increased efficiency, crew member ergonomics and patient safety.”

This kit is available on all current Bell commercial aircraft.
